Andrew "Drew" Bynes Martin, Sr.

Andrew Bynes Martin Sr., lovingly known as "Drew," went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 1, 2024. Drew shared his love for the Lord with everyone he met and fervently desired for all to have a personal relationship with Jesus. 

He loved life, cherished his family, never met a stranger, and had a selfless servant's heart. Drew was a great cook, a sports enthusiast, and adored his wife, Dana. 

Drew was born on August 20, 1961, in Savannah, Georgia, and grew up in Port Wentworth. He graduated from Savannah Christian School and worked at Savannah Sugar Refinery for seven years before spending the past 30 years at Georgia Pacific Papermill in Rincon. He was a faithful member of Countryside Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Martin; and his in-laws, Harold and Betty Mixon. 

Drew is survived by the love of his life of 37 years, Dana Mixon Martin; son, Andrew Bynes Martin Jr. (Alayna) of Kennesaw; and daughter, Andrea Lee Froehlich (Sheldon) of Guyton. He is also survived by his beloved grandson, Tucker Bynes Martin; mother, Theresa H. Martin; brother, Doug Martin (Virginia); sisters, Ann Groover and Julie Vaughn (Davy); and sister-in-law, Tina King (Olin). Drew cherished his numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, and cousins. He also had several lifelong softball and golfing buddies with whom he spent many enjoyable hours.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Countryside Baptist Church,1201 Noel C Conaway Road, Guyton, GA 31312, in Drew’s memory.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Emory University and UF Health Proton Therapy for the care they gave to Drew.

 Visitation will be held at Countryside Baptist Church on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 3-4pm with a funeral service to follow at 4pm. Burial will take place in Effingham Memorial Gardens.
