Ann Smith

-Springfield- Mrs. Mary Ann Smith, 73, passed away, surrounded by her family, at Memorial Hospital on Monday, June 27, 2022.

Mrs. Ann was born in Guyton, Georgia on August 22, 1948, to Ed and Mardell Steed. She worked for many years as a hairdresser and in insulation and sheet rock before driving a school bus for Effingham County Board of Education. She was of the Baptist faith and in her free time she enjoyed spending time with her loving family and sewing.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, George Levon Smith, Sr. “Pete”; daughter, Tori Lynn Smith; parents, Ed and Mardell Steed; and sister, Estell Weaver.

Survivors include: her children, Lisa Morgan of Rincon and Pete Smith (Theresa) of Springfield; grandchildren, Tori Baumann of Rincon, Cody Wilson (Amanda) of Springfield, Kym Hanner (John) of Clyo, Bridgett Sessions (Kyle) of Springfield, Larry Smith (Alyssa) of Guyton, Hannah Mills (Dalton Sikes) of Springfield, and Kaden Smith of Springfield; brother, Johnny Steed (Susan) of Santee Cooper, SC; sisters, Sue Davis (Walter) of Clyo and Janett Tillman (Steve) of Brooklet; and a number of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A graveside service will be held at Silverhill United Methodist Church Cemetery on Friday, July 1, 2022, at 10am.
