Augustus Lee McEwen

-Rincon- Mr. Augustus Lee McEwen, 77, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Mr. Lee was born in Savannah, Georgia on June 5, 1943 to Laurel and Myrtle McEwen. He was a member of Pineora Baptist Church where he loved cooking in the church kitchen. He enjoyed collecting antiques, fishing, tinkering with arts and crafts, and volunteering with Meals on Wheels.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Laurel and Myrtle McEwen; brother, LJ McEwen; and sister, Shirley Fountain.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 59 years, Mary McEwen; son, Matthew McEwen (Melinda) of Guyton; daughters,  Leigh Ann Duke (Grady) of Savannah, Lorraine Knight (William) of Perry, GA, and Lisa McFarlane of Springfield; grandchildren, Heather, Brian, Tiffany, Daniel, Chelsea, Christina M., Christina S., and Michael; great grandchildren, Gabby, Caleb, Addyson, Miyah, Chloe, Alyssa, Leila, Cadence, and Buddy; niece, Sheree Rogers (Deedee) of Port Wentworth; and beloved four legged companion, Chipper.

Graveside services will be held in the Rincon Cemetery on Monday, January 11, 2021, at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask donations be made to the Senior Citizens Center, 601 N Laurel Street  Springfield, GA 31329.
