Mr. Charles Lamar Helmuth, 88, passed away Monday, September 2, 2019, at Effingham County Hospital.
Mr. Charles was born in Savannah, Georgia on December 31, 1930 to Paul and Della Helmuth and grew up in Bulloch County. He was a graduate of Nevils High School and a United States Army Veteran. Mr. Charles enjoyed gardening, singing, his Saturday shopping trips and spending time with his loving family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Della Helmuth; son, Charles L. Helmuth, Jr.; brothers Sam Helmuth, Robert Helmuth, Howard Helmuth, Freddie Helmuth, Ronnie Helmuth, and Randy Helmuth; and sisters, Eloise Robbins and Jackie Fordham.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Becky Helmuth; son, Greg Helmuth of Guyton; daughter, Lisa Brabham(Dell) of Guyton; step-son, Glen Polk of Port Wentworth; grandchildren, Lauren Mulvey(Brian) of Wilmington Island and Dell Brabham, Jr. of Springfield; step-granddaughter, Meagan Polk of Walterboro, SC; and great grandsons, Tripp Mulvey and Eli Mulvey both of Wilmington Island; step great granddaughter, Chloe Kearse of Walterboro; sisters, Frances Denmark of Nevils,GA and Helen Cannon; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Riggs Funeral Home on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 11AM-1PM with funeral services to follow at 1PM in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Guyton Cemetery.
