Cindy Lou Brown,69 , passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at her residence in Guyton, Georgia. 

Cindy was born in Gary, Indiana, on August 26, 1954, and lived in Effingham County for a number of years. Her life touched many hearts, and her legacy will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Known for her outgoing and loving nature, Cindy had a remarkable ability to make others feel at ease in her presence. Her heart of gold was evident to all who crossed her path, as she exuded kindness and compassion in all aspects of her life.

Cindy held family in the highest regard, considering them to be the cornerstone of her life. She found great joy in being a foster mom, providing love and care to numerous children over the years. Cindy's dedication to nurturing children’s lives left an indelible mark on all those she welcomed into her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Dorothy; daughter, Lori Taulbee; brother, Jacob Eriks; sister, Bonnie Middleborn; and grandson, Caleb Taulbee.

Survivors include: her loving husband of 43 years, Donald Brown, Sr.; sons, David “Donnie” Bartholomew (Kristin) of Hobart, Indiana and Joshua Brown of Guyton; daughters, Leann Collins (Tim) of Valparaiso, Indiana, Florence Newcomb (Brian) of Portage, Indiana, and Paige Brown of Guyton; brothers, Danny Dykhuizen of Gary, Indiana; John Dykhuizen (Michelle) of St. Louis, Missouri, and John David Budgin of Lake City, Florida; sisters, Jackie Slinker of Tampa, Florida, Laura Jallo-Morando of Hammond, Indiana, Kim Powell (Keith) of Delphi, Indiana; and Tina Demmon (Robert) of Bryan, Texas ; grandchildren, Kyle, Miranda, Trevor, Macie, Ryne, Ben, Jody, Hope, and Sarah; great grandchildren, Everly, Makenna Jo, Walker, Kaiden, Max, and Ophelya; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Memorial Gathering to honor and celebrate Cindy's life will take place on Thursday, May 23, 2024, starting at 6:00 PM at the New Hope Christian Church, 2550 Courthouse Rd, Guyton, GA 31312. Another memorial gathering will be held in her home state of Indiana at Crown of Life Church, 2825 East Cleveland Avenue, Hobart, IN 46342 on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 2pm.
