With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Claude, our fierce and faithful friend for over 17 years.
Claude, a dashing long-haired Dachshund brought immeasurable joy to our lives. He was an independent fellow who would not be stopped once he set his mind to something - especially where food was concerned. He would gaze at the treat box on top of the refrigerator with sad, pleading eyes until he persuaded anyone watching to give him a treat. If that strategy wouldn’t work, he was not above sneaking into his sister’s room to pilfer her Friskies.
Claude was loved and admired by all who had the pleasure of meeting him. He was sure to melt the heart of any lady who crossed his path—and there were many. He also had his grandmas wrapped around his paw and would use his charm to score extra treats and attention whenever they visited.
Being the champion he was, he had many epic adventures while out on his daily walks. On one memorable occasion, he darted after a cat, pulling his Minnie along behind him. The cat turned out to be a disgruntled opossum who quickly ended the chase when it did a 180 and hissed frightening both Claude and Minnie and sending them in the opposite direction.
More than anything, Claude was a loving and loyal companion who brought his family many hours of happiness. He will be sorely missed, and his memory will be a source of joy to all who knew him.
He leaves behind his two dads, his sister, Sophia, his Minnie, his Grandpa Jeff and Grandma Barb, and his many dear friends in Georgia and Ohio.
“No one who is remembered with love ever dies.”
