-Rincon- David Trey Bennett, 28, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2022.
David was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina on May 4, 1993, to Karin Ellis and the late David Charles Bennett. He was a graduate of Fort Mill High School where he was a member of the drumline, he attended Clemson University before joining the Marines. A proud Veteran of the Marines, he was a crew chief of the MV-22 Tiltrotor callsign “Culprit” and earned the Global War on Terrorism medal while serving on the USS Kearsarge. He was also a 2021 graduate of SAM Tech (School of Automotive Machining and Technology) and worked for Gulfstream Aerospace as a Quality Control Inspector for the final line G700.
David was an avid gearhead who loved fast cars and firearms. His reach was far spread, and his spirit influenced countless souls. His friends knew him as “David”. He had an infectious energy, genuine laugh, and a love for adrenaline. His family knew him as “Trey”, he was the jokester of the family, always full of joy, and could light up the room with his smile. He loved his Nanny Linda and always looked forward to sharing his life accomplishments with her. David will forever be loved and missed by his older brother, Blake.
Ashley and David were high school sweethearts, having met in the FMHS Band. David loved and adored Ashley and always made her laugh with his quick wit and great sense of humor.
David was a loyal friend, who would gladly help his friends and strangers in any way that he could. Known as the “Dungeon Master” in Dungeons and Dragons he enjoyed playing video and board games with his best friends, Matt and Ben.
He is preceded in death by his father, David Charles Bennett; paternal grandparents, Richard Bennett and Maureen Herndon.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Ashley Parker Bennett; 4 legged companions, Barret Von Fuzzybutt and step cat, Myles; mother, Karin Ellis (Tod); brother, Blake Bennett; nephew, James Bennett; step-sister, Heather Branham (Andrew); half-brother, Adam Roether (Vanessa); half-sister, Sierra Messinger; maternal grandparents, Linda Petit (Ray) and Bobby Barnes (Wilma); and many other extended family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 5PM on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at Carlson and Riggs Funeral Home in Guyton, GA with visitation to follow at Moncrief Square in Springfield, GA. Interment will be held at 10AM on Monday, April 25, 2022, at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC.
