David Alfred Howes, Sr., age 80 of Springfield, Ga, passed away to his heavenly home, December 22, 2021, after a brave battle with heart disease.
David Howes, Sr., was born May 5, 1941, in Deadwood, South Dakota., to J. Alfred Howes and Evelyn Wilson Howes. He was preceded in death by both parents; son, David Howes, Jr.; and sister, Linda Withrow.
He grew up in Sundance, Wyoming. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, motorcycles, and reading westerns. He graduated from high school in 1959 and later joined the United States Navy. While serving in the military, he married his wife, Charmagne Stevenson Howes in 1963. When stationed in Hawaii, they gave birth to a son, David Alfred Howes, Jr., and a daughter, Ayleen Alta Howes.
Dave’s deep devotion to God and his family will forever inspire us! To watch such courage and faith in the face of great adversity, always a warm smile and a kind word. What a joy and a privilege to be this man’s wife and caregiver, to know his amazing legacy lives on!
He is survived by his wife of the home, Charmagne Howes; daughter, Ayleen Howes-Coleman; granddaughters, Ashley Jordan, Nichole Jenkins (Derrick), Katelyn Moberly (Chase); grandsons, Ezra Howes, Solomon Howes (Kristin); 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Don Howes (Cheryl); sisters, Ellen Goracke (Oren), Joyce Brothe (Tom), and many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
We will remember your passion for your family, fondness for reading, you proudly served your country. You remain big in our hearts and remain the love of my life!
