Douglas Melvin Parker

Douglas Melvin Parker, 75, of Springfield passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. 

Doug was born on February 15, 1949, to Melvin Parker and Hildred Hardman and grew up in Hull, Georgia. He dedicated and gave his life to God on January 1, 1973. Doug meet his wife Maria at college and moved to Douglasville, Georgia to serve as a youth pastor and then continued his ministry in Springfield a pastor. As well as being a pastor for many years, Doug also owned and operated Superior Steam for almost 30 years. 

A true man of God, he loved his family and his love and dedication to God was evident in all aspects of his life. Doug was a strong man of faith. He will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved him, but they know he is finally home where there is no pain or sorrow. 

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Maria Parker; son, Curtis Parker (Ellie); daughters Jenny Mitchell (Jason) and Janette Staton (Stephen).He was known as papa to his grandchildren, Sienna, Silas, Parker, Sofie, Merritt, Libbie, Skylar, Solomon and Summer. 

Visitation will be held from 10:30am-11:00am on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, 963 Highway 98 East, Danielsville, Georgia 30633, with a funeral service to follow at 11am in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Old Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
