Dowell "Cowboy" Edwards

Mr. Dowell “Cowboy” Edwards, 63, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at his home, with his loved ones by his side.

Dowell was born on December 1, 1959, to the late Frank and Amelia Edwards and lived in Effingham County his entire life.  He worked for many years with Strickland Propane in Springfield. In his free time, he loved listening to country music, fishing, and watching westerns. Above all, Cowboy loved spending time with his loving family. To know Dowell was to have a wonderful and caring friend, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Amelia Edwards; wife, Charlene Edwards, sisters, Valarie and Ollie; and stepson, Mark Underwood.

Mr. Edwards leaves behind a daughter, Elizabeth Edwards of Springfield; 4 grandchildren, Brynndan Edwards of Indiana, Shelbi Edwards of Springfield, Bryson Edwards of Springfield, and Joden Edwards of Springfield; brother, Bartow Edwards (Bonnie) of Springfield; sister, Marshie Proctor of Rincon; stepdaughters, Ilaree Tillman of Bulloch County and Charlotte Stone (Joey) of Springfield; 12 step grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and countless friends that he claimed as family.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, in Rincon Cemetery at 12noon.
