Mr. Dwight Ray Ward, 71, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at Hospice Savannah.
Dwight was born on September 1, 1948 in Albuquerque, NM to the late Malcom and Wanda Ward. He was a proud Vietnam veteran and retired from the United States Army after 21 years of service. After retirement, Dwight went to work for Lockheed Martin as a government contractor for 20 years. In continuance of service to his country, Dwight was a faithful member of The In Country Vietnam Motorcycle Club, Alcoholics Anonymous and The Patriot Riders of America. He was avid outdoorsman who loved to go fishing and hunting.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, Malcom and Wanda Ward; and brothers, Larry Ward, Jerry Ward and Babe Ward.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 48 years, Christa Ward; daughter, Kristin Boyette (Chris) of Guyton; son, Michael Ward (Brooke) of Rincon; brother, Ronald Ward (Carmen) of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Christopher Boyette, Andrew Boyette, Madison Ward, Kendall Ward, and Shelby Ward; and sisters-in-law, Sherry Ward of Albuquerque, NM, and Gina Ward of California.
Visitation will be held at Riggs Funeral Home on Sunday, August 30, 2020, from 3 – 4pm with funeral services to follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 4pm. A private family burial will take place in the Beaufort National Cemetery.
