Ellen Edwina Doremus

Ellen Edwina Doremus ,69, passed away June 22, 2021, at home peacefully surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with breast cancer which led to heart failure.

She was born July 20, 1951, in Savannah, GA, to the late Frank and Edwina Bandy of Isle of Hope, but has resided the last 17 years in Macon, GA. Ellen graduated from Herschel V. Jenkins High School in 1969. She was a homemaker and worked part-time in real estate.

She was engaged to Jesse McClung. Ellen is survived by 5 children: Jennifer Allen (Matt) of Brooklet, Barbara Smith (Brenton) of Decatur, Charles Michael Smith, Jr. of Warner Robbins, Caitlin Castro (Quincy) of Chicago, and Matthew Doremus (Isabelle) of Tucson. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Aaron, Andrew, and Caroline Allen; Corbin Bloom; Jordan Helmick; Harriet, Albert, and Lewis Castro. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Joanne Barber (Rod), and Marie Quick (Pete), and was predeceased by her brother, Frank H. Bandy, Jr., and sister, Jeanne Bandy. Last, but not least, she is survived by her precious dogs, Sophie and Gracie.

The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm on June 25, 2021 at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Hillcrest Abbey East.
