Elzie Wayne Little, a beloved veteran, family man, and lifelong learner, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2025, in Guyton, Georgia, at the age of 76. Born in Mobile, Alabama, Wayne was the son of Ernestine Park (Gilchrist) and Thomas Benjamin Little.
Wayne proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 3, dedicating 24 years of active military service to his role as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician and test pilot for Cobra and Apache helicopters. He enlisted in October 1968 and retired in 1993 after an exemplary career marked by skill, courage, and commitment.
Beyond his military service, Wayne was known for his love of dancing, creating, tinkering, building, shark fishing, and exploring the internet. His curiosity and passion for learning were lifelong traits that inspired those around him.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife Victoria (Briggs) Little; his siblings Ricky Little and Jesse Lynn Gilchrist; stepchildren Jennifer Edwards Gilliam (Ken) and James Micah Edwards (Shelley); grandchildren Morgan Edwards Stone (Layton), Luke Edwards, Emma Gilliam, and Blake Gilliam; and great-grandchildren Liam and Griffin Stone. He is predeceased by his sister Barbara “Bobbie” Ashburn; sister Betty Spencer; brother Randy Wayne Gilchrist; and daughter Francis Little.
A private burial service will be held in Guyton, Georgia. Wayne's legacy of dedication to family, country, and lifelong learning will be cherished by all who knew him.
