Eva Belle Burns Pevey, 93, died February 15, 2021 at Effingham Hospital. She was born on November 15, 1927, and lived in Springfield almost her entire life.
Eva Belle graduated from Springfield High School. On January 22, 1946, she married Rodney A. Pevey. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage before Rodney passed away in 2001.
On the day her son started school, Eva Belle began working at the Exchange Bank of Springfield. She would serve in many positions with the bank during her career. She retired in 1987 with 35 years of service.
Eva Belle was a long time member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield, where she was active in the Lutheran Women’s organization.
In her retirement, Eva Belle loved to travel with Rodney and their friends. They especially enjoyed the trips to Italy, and the many cruises. Daytona Beach was another of their favorite destinations. One of their favorite local places was Johnny Harris’ Restaurant in Savannah, where they often enjoyed dining and dancing.
Eva Belle always looked forward to her high school class reunions. She loved a trip to Savannah for a day out shopping. She also enjoyed vacationing at Tybee Island.
Eva Belle will be remembered for her graciousness, her sense of humor, and her love for her family. She is survived by her son Barry and his wife Linda of Seaford, DE; two grandsons, Ric Pevey and his wife Carolyn of Calera AL, Ron Pevey and his wife Michelle of Savannah, granddaughter-in-law Donna Cole of Springfield; and five great-grandchildren, Cole Pevey and Mabrey-Layne Pevey Marsalis (and Eric), all of Calera, AL; Sophie Pevey of Savannah; and Hope Pevey and Luke Pevey of Springfield. She is predeceased by her husband Rodney, her parents and her four siblings.
The family wishes to thank Donna and the many dedicated caregivers for their loving service, which made it possible for Eva Belle to spend her final years in the home that she loved.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Eva Belle’s memory to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 303 N Laurel St, Springfield, GA 31329.
