Gregory L. McCallie

Gregory “Greg” L McCallie, 62, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022.

Greg was born in Columbia, South America on May 1, 1960, to the late Kenneth “Mac” McCallie and Mary Jo McCallie. He lived in the Hardeeville, SC area for many years, then moved and resided in Effingham County for the last 25 years. Greg worked the majority of his life as a Traveling Welder, and excelled in his trade. In his free time, he loved to hunt, especially hogs. He was a family man, a great father, grandfather, and husband. Greg was always there to help anyone in need, once a friend, he was a friend to the end.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Mac and Mary Jo McCallie; and sister, Marilyn Wood.

He is survived by his daughter, Holli Byrd; grandson, Kenneth Austin Byrd; wife Doris McCallie; brothers, Larry McCallie, Eric McCallie, and Tony McCallie; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at 1:00pm, Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Greg’s residence.
