Diane “Mimi” Bailey,73, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Riverview Nursing Home under the care of Spanish Oaks Hospice.
Mimi was born in Savannah, GA and was the daughter of the late Akram Khan and Laura Caffo. She resided in Savannah, GA all of her life. Mimi was the co -owner of Miss Nellies Antique Shop with her mother, Laura Caffo, for many years. She helped run her daughter’s boutique, EJ Scandals and had great pleasure in dressing the wonderful ladies of Savannah. Throughout Mimi’s life she nurtured and guided her two daughters as well as all of their friends to become the people they are today. Mimi’s house was always open to her daughters’ friends. Mimi was known for being an avid supporter of St. James, St. Vincent’s, BC and Georgia Tech sporting events. With her vibrant personality and tell you how it is demeanor, Mimi has left an indelible mark on our community.
She is preceded in death by her father, Akram Khan and mother, Laura Caffo.
She is survived by her ex-husband, Michael J. Butler; daughters, Jenny Quick (Billy) and Shelly Butler (Tim); granddaughter, Bailye Quick Belbusti (Jackson); great granddaughter, Isabella Kate Belbusti; sisters, Marchia Ward and Wanda Fleming (Bob); aunt, Geri Mallard; niece, Amy Ward Tacey (Jay); and nephew, Benji Ward (Tara); as well as many many great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life honoring Mimi will be held on Friday, November 15 from 3PM to 6PM at 46 Romney Place on Isle of Hope. Casual attire.
The family suggest remembrance be made to the Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club of Savannah due to Mimi’s dedication to youth athletics.
