Howard McKenzie

Springfield- Howard McKenzie, 77, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, December 26, 2022, under hospice care.

Howard was born March 13, 1945 in Lyons, Georgia. He resided in Effingham County most of his life. Howard worked in automobile parts sales for 25 years and also owned Howard’s Seafood Market in Rincon. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandkids.

Howard is preceded in death by his father, JB McKenzie; mother, Amanda Kight McKenzie; and brothers, James McKenzie and Wildon McKenzie.

He is survived by his wife, Reneè Newton McKenzie; children, Katherine Buchanan of Savannah, GA, Lisa McKenzie of Columbus, OH, Melissa (Jack) Burnsed of Brooklet, GA, Brian (Alexis) McKenzie of San Antonio, TX, Melanie McKenzie of Starke, FL, and James (Kristy) Garner of Springfield, GA; sister, Doris (Herbert) Higgs of Lyons, GA; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 11am to 12pm on Friday, December 30, 2022, at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home.

A Graveside service will follow at 12:30pm at Foy Cemetery in Egypt, GA.
