-Guyton- Mr. James Doyle Butler, 83, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017, at Landmark Hospital in Savannah, Georgia.
Mr. Butler was born on July 31, 1933 in Iron City, Tennessee to Luther and Katie Butler. He lived in Guyton for a number of years, was a retired engineer with IBM, a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict and was of the Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Edna Butler.
Survivors include: his son, Terry Wayne Butler of Savannah; daughter, Constance Swagert of Guyton; brother, Robert Butler of Alabama; grandchildren, Christina Hope Swagert of Guyton and Robert James Swagert of Savannah; 5 great grandchildren, Cole Swagert, Sadie Shipes, Caden Swagert, Madeline Swagert and Isabella Hand.
Visitation will be held at Riggs Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, from 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow in Effingham Memorial Gardens.
