-Guyton- James Thad Miller, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015, in his home surrounded by his family. He was a member of Centerpoint Community Church in Rincon. Thad moved to Effingham at the age of 8 and grew to be a pillar of the community and his family living out his christian values. He proudly served 3 tours during the Vietnam Era where along with many awards he received the Purple Heart Honor in 1st Cav division. Thad was a loving husband, a devoted dad and more over was the perfect example of what a "Papa" should be to his grandchildren. He had the gift of making everyone feel like family, enough that he was known as "Uncle Worm" to all. He was married to Janice Oglesby for 49 years and together they have two sons, James Lance Miller and Scott (Samantha) Miller. He had four grandchildren, Bella, Eliza, Tucker and Tanner along with two sisters, Ann Pryor (John Emory) and Judy Miller. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great neices and great nephews. Pallbearers will be: Newman Pryor, Mitch Dasher, Kevin Oglesby, Joe DiGiovanni, Ashley Skinner and Mike Pippins. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Riggs Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at Centerpoint Community Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with burial to follow at Guyton Cemetery.
