James Winston Oliver, 56, of Clyo passed away on Sunday August 11,2024, at Effingham County Hospital. Born on March 7, 1968, in Estill, SC, he lived a life full of love, dedication and unwavering commitment to his family and friends.
James dedicated many years of his life to working as a truck driver before parking at Coastal Logistics Group as Senior Dispatcher and overall fix-it man, where he brought his strong work ethic and dedication to everything he did. It was his commitment to his job and willingness to be a mentor that earned him the respect and admiration of all who had the pleasure of working with him.
As a man of integrity, James will be remembered for his immense love for his nearest and dearest. Family meant everything to him and his unshakeable love and devotion to his loved ones knew no bounds. Beyond his family and professional endeavors, James was a man of many talents and interests. A true jack of all trades, he possessed a remarkable ability to fix just about anything. His willingness to lend a helping hand and his tireless generosity endeared him to all who knew him.
James also found great joy in preparing delicious meals and baked treats, especially for family gatherings and holidays. The warmth of his hospitality and the love he poured into everything he did will forever be cherished and missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Sandy Oliver; father (Dad), Kenneth Oliver; stepfather (Dad), John Waldhour; and his grandparents.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 26 years, Nancy Oliver; sons, Troy Redmond (Tonya) of Ellabell, Keith Redmond (Lisa) of Guyton, and Kenneth Oliver of Clyo; daughter, Tabitha Redmond of Clyo; mother, Lena Mae Waldhour of Rincon; little brother, Chris Oliver (Emily) of Clyo; sister, Barbara Clark (Allen) of California; grandchildren, Noella Rebelanna, Troy Jaymeson, Breahna Nikole, and Adalyn Harper; cousin, Kayla Samuel; and James Nelson as well as many other loving extended family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Silver Hill Church on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 4 pm.
James’ greatest love language was acts of service and his family wishes, in lieu of flowers, that everyone would go out and perform a random act of kindness, make a donation to their church in his memory, plant a tree, or just show up for someone in need of help.
