Jeffery “Jeff” Allen Utley,67, a man of many talents and strong character, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Memorial Hospital, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on January 5, 1957, in Portland, Oregon, Jeff led a remarkable life filled with diverse experiences and unwavering dedication to serving his community. His career was as varied as it was impressive - from working as an EMT to serving as an officer with the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, and even taking on roles such as county commissioner, security at the Effingham County Hospital and working for Roebling Road Raceway. Most recently, he dedicated his time and skills to Coastal Regional Coaches as a transport driver, embodying professionalism and reliability in all that he did.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jeff was known for his kind and welcoming personality. He had a gift for putting others at ease with his sense of humor and big heart. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandbabies, whom he cherished dearly.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myra Utley; parents, Don and Joyce Utley; and brother, Michael Utley.
Survivors include: his sons, Chris Utley of Clyo and Jeffery Eicher of Tennessee; grandchildren, Jake, Paige, Cade, Braxton, Ethan, and Layla; sister, Elaine Jenkins of Rincon; special friend, Gina Joyner of Springfield; and many other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be held at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home on Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 3 – 4pm with a funeral service to follow at 4pm in the chapel of the funeral home.
