-Pembroke, Ga- Joyce Robinson Brannen, of Pembroke, formally of Guyton, 69, wife of Max G. Brannen, Sr. passed away December 26, 2017 after a sudden illness. She was born January 13, 1948 in Savannah and was the eldest daughter of the late Luther T. Robinson of Guyton and the late Frances (Johnson) and Lynwood "Speedy" Tebeau of Springfield.
Joyce loved being a mother, wife, caretaker and friend to all she met. She was a retired CNA of Effingham Hospital and Care Facility, where she impacted the lives of many patients she cared for, as well mas their families. Mrs. Brannen enjoyed traveling with Max, the love of her life, and their beloved dog, Cricket. They enjoyed attending many NASCAR races and rodeos, and taking Lake Sinclair trips and anywhere they could "crash" their camper into, literally. She spent many hours working in her garden and tending to her chickens, birds, cats and any other stray that would show up. Her home was open to anyone in need; and she never spoke a harsh word about anyone that can be remembered.
In addition to her husband, Max, Joyce leaves behind: two daughters, Donita Griffith of Springfield and Jennifer Brannen of Simpsonville SC; four sons, Derek Anderson (Amy) of Newington, John Anderson (Hayley) of Springfield, Max Brannen Jr. (Tina) of Charleston, SC, and Robbie Brannen (Amy) of Sylvania,. Her pride and joy were all of her grandchildren who called her Mamaw...Amber Anderson, Dylan Anderson, Katharine Joyce Griffith, Jordan Griffith, John Ryan Anderson, Abbey Anderson, Matthew Shuman, Stephan Shuman, Albrey Brannen, Reese Brannen, Taylor Brannen, and Jamie Brannen. Other survivors include, her siblings, Tommy Robinson of Guyton, Charlie Robinson of Pembroke, James Robinson of Springfield, Bill Robinson of Guyton, and sister, Judy Robinson Reiser of Springfield and a number of nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved. Joyce also wanted like to include her dearest friends, Diane Dugger and Nancy Archer, who she enjoyed years of friendship with. She also missed the time spent with her dear friend, the late Lynn Cribbs.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517 in honor of her loving brother, Charlie Robinson, who served in the U.S. Army.
Memorial Services will be held at Riggs Funeral Home on Friday, December 29, 2017, at 5 p.m.
