Mr. Lamar Brigdon, 90, passed away at his residence on Sunday, January 19, 2020.
Mr. Lamar was born in Savannah, GA on August 16, 1929 to Newton and Laudess Brigdon. He was an active member of The Baptist Church at Ebenezer and was retired from Union Camp. He spent many years coaching the Little Leaguers baseball, helping build several ballparks in Effingham County and was inducted into the Effingham County Sports Hall of Fame in 2019. A three-time Southeast Golden Globe Boxing Championship winner, he enjoyed boxing and water skiing. Above all, spending time with his family brought the greatest joy to his life.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, Newton and Laudess Brigdon; sons, Danny David Brigdon and Richard Allen Brigdon; brothers, Newton Jack Brigdon and Harry Brigdon; and sister Marjorie Rogers.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 69 years, Agnes Brigdon; sons, Michael Lamar Brigdon(Becky) of Rincon and James “Jimmy” Dale Brigdon of Rincon; daughter, Lynn Brigdon of Rincon; sister, Ruth Ulmer of Savannah; grandchildren, Danny Brigdon, Erica Lee, Trey Brigdon and Bobby Brigdon; great grandchildren, Lacy, Zackery, Allen, Avery, Adam, Emory, Colton, and Everly; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at The Baptist Church at Ebenezer from 10 – 11am with funeral services to follow at 11am. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.
The family request, family and friends wear casual attire.
