Lawrence Elliott Dudney, Sr

-Guyton- Mr. Lawrence Elliott Dudney, 82, passed away at home after a long illness on March 1st, 2017 in Guyton, Georgia.
Lawrence is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, of 60 years; son, Larry (Kathleen) of Canton, GA; daughters Lynn Davy (Ed) of Guyton, GA and Lisa Neal (David) of Powder Springs, GA; sister, Jackie Lovett of Tabor City, North Carolina; brother, William Dudney of Tabor City, North Carolina; five loving grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Audrey and Smithie Dudney of Cerro Gordo, NC., sister, Catherine Strickland and brother, Honoree Dudney of NC.
Lawrence was born on December 27, 1934 in Cerro Gorda, NC. After moving to Savannah he met Barbara Sessions of Port Wentworth. They married on September 28,1956. Lawrence was a truck driver and farmer. Lawrence loved the outdoors. He and Barbara, eventually bought a farm in Effingham County. He was passionate about his grandchildren; Josh Neal(Mallory), Eddie Davy, Jessica Neal, Harley and Werner Dudney. His family remembers him as an honest, and hardworking man who loved life, and had a tremendous sense of humor. He encouraged his children and grandchildren, and anyone else who would listen to him, to enjoy life, work hard and pursue their goals.
The funeral service is scheduled for Friday, March 3rd at Riggs Funeral Home in Guyton, visitation at 2:00pm with the funeral at 3:00pm. Following the service the burial will be held at Elam Egypt Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Paul Moore, of Elam Egypt Baptist Church will officiate. The family would like to thank the caregivers for their support, efforts and love.
