Lorene Nummy Campbell
December 11, 1922 — September 16, 2017
-Springfield-Lorene Nummy Campbell "Grandma", 94, entered her eternal rest, Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Effingham Extended Care Facility.
Grandma had a sweet, gentle spirit and was a blessing to all who knew her. Grandma resided the last 21 years in Effingham County but spent 73 years in Birmingham, Alabama where she was born on December 11, 1922 to Uel S. & Mabel M. Nummy, she married Earl H. Campbell and had one daughter, Jackie Campbell Bargeron. Grandma was predeceased by her parents, husband, her beloved daughter and her sister, Grace Nummy Guy. She was a lifelong member of Fairview United Methodist Church where she served in many areas including leadership in Women's Ministry and Sunday School. She worked 32 years with Sears and Roebuck in the accounting department. Grandma enjoyed working with her hands, she loved gardening, cooking, crocheting, cross stitching, quilting and sewing. She was an excellent seamstress and over the years meticulously crafted items with much love for family and friends to include quilts and a Satin, lace and pearl cathedral length wedding gown and veil for her daughter, Jackie.
Mrs. Campbell leaves behind two grandsons, Craig S. Armstrong (Harriette) of Springfield, GA, Steve Duda of Washington State, two great grandsons, Garrett Armstrong, Brandon Sellars (Brittany), two great-great grandchildren, Dakota Sellars, PJ Hughes, all of Springfield, Ga.; one brother, Charles Nummy and three nieces all of Birmingham, AL and two very special friends, Lisa Weaver and Maureen O'Bryan Clay both of Springfield, Ga.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Effingham Extended Care Facility in their assistance with providing for their grandmother's care over the past several months.
Visitation will be held at Riggs Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, from 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Riggs Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, with burial to follow in the Springfield Annex.
