-Guyton- Louis Carmen Gonzales, 52, passed away on March 5, 2020 at Memorial Hospital surrounded by his wife, children, and family.
He was born January 18, 1968 in Chicago, IL and lived in Guyton, GA with his family.
Lou started his military career in the Marines in 1987, where he met his wife, Sandra, who was also a Marine. He served in Operation Desert Storm. He furthered his military career in the Georgia Army National Guard, where he helped with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina; was part of the Georgia Counter Drug Task Force; and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2009. He retired from the military in 2010.
He was very involved in Effingham County Middle School after school Miniatures Club. He was a member of the Rincon Chapter of the VFW.
Lou is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Gonzales, Herbert and E’llyn Licht; brother, Lance Gonzales; and brother-in-law, Wayne Widing.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Gonzales; daughter, Bridget Pawloski (Michael); daughter, Courtney Gonzales (Bryant); daughter, Melanie Gonzales; and son, Andrew Gonzales; sisters, Lois Menis-Widing; Leslie Jones (Sean); and many nieces and nephews.
The Celebration of Life has been postponed and will be announced at a later date.
