Maria (Kellett) Strickland

Maria Kellett Strickland, 80, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Candler Hospital.

Mrs. Maria was born on December 13, 1941, in Augusta, Georgia and lived most of her life there before moving to Savannah, and then to Rincon, Georgia. She began her career as an X-Ray Technician before moving on to work for the Postal Service, where she retired from. She had a passion for dancing and had a deep love for her family.

Maria is survived by her children, Barbara Chambers, Laura (Rich) Veltkamp, and Kelley (Andrew) Taylor; grandchildren, Summer Reidy, Becca Chambers, Cara (Eric) Bevill, and Cody Chambers; 13 great grandchildren; special nieces, Debbie Williams, and Shirley Wold; a host of other nieces and nephews; and her four legged fur babies, Dixie and Lucky Strickland.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Strickland; son in law, William “Billy” Chambers; mother, Margaret Kellett; father Albert Kellett; and sisters, Betty Easter and Barbara Missildine.

Visitation will be held at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 12:00pm to 12:30pm, with a celebration of life to follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 12:30pm.
