Mary Helen Steed

-Clyo- Mrs. Mary Helen Mercer Steed, 85, passed away at her residence on Sunday, September 18, 2022.

Mary Helen was born in Clyo on May 3, 1937, to Irvin Walter Mercer and Ava Eloise Mercer and lived in Clyo all her life. She was a member of Silverhill United Methodist Church, she enjoyed singing, and loved spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Owen; son, Darrell; daughter, Angela Joyner; sisters, Margaret, Carlotta and Cacelia; brother, Walter Mercer; and grandson, Brent D. Moore, Jr.

Survivors include: her children, Benjie Steed (Sherri), Terri Mock (David), Bruce Steed (Lisa), and Byron Steed; brother, Austin Mercer(Beverly); 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; 1 great grandson, Braxton; and best friends, Mary Myrick and Sherrie Carmichael.

Visitation will be held at Silverhill United Methodist Church on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 10 – 11am with a funeral service to follow at 11am. Interment will be held in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Carey Hodges, Carey Williams, Mark Morris, Barry Patnaude, Eric Bevil, and Travis Morgan.
