Matthew Lewis

Matthew “Matt” Lewis, 40, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021, at his residence.

Matt was born in Greenwood, South Carolina on July 24, 1980 to Linda Holder and Richard Lewis. He attended South Effingham High School, where he played football. After high school Matt attended Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Matthew was an owner-operator truck driver for many years. In his free time, you could find him fishing and listening to music.  You could always find a smile on Matt’s face, even in the troubled times. To many people, Matthew was known as a big blue eyed teddy bear.

Matt lived Big and loved Bigger!

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Lewis.

Survivors include: his mother, Linda Holder; brother, Michael Cobb (Allison) of Alpharetta, GA; nephews, Hampton Cobb, and Davis Cobb both of Alpharetta, GA; niece, AliGrace Cobb of Alpharetta, GA.

Visitation will be held at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home on Sunday, May 16, 2021, from 2 -3pm with a celebration of life to follow at 3pm in the chapel of the funeral home.
