Michael Payne Roberts

Michael Payne Roberts, 74, died Tuesday,  November 16. 2021, at home under the care of Regency Southern Care Hospice surrounded by his loving family.

He was born January 22, 1947, in El Dorado, Arkansas and lived in Prairieville, Louisiana for most of his life before moving to Guyton, Georgia.

He served in the US Navy from 1967 – 1971 aboard the USS Franklin D Roosevelt. He was a welder by trade and retired from Southern Maintenance. Mike was also President and a lifelong member of Poor Mans Hunting Club in Jackson, Louisiana.

His hobbies included cooking, telling stories, raising and training redbone and blue tick puppies, hunting and camping.  The one thing he enjoyed most was spending time with his wife, Debbie of 53 years, his children, and grandchildren.

Mike is preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Jean Chilen Roberts; his mother, Eleanor Payne Roberts Campbell; and his father, Edward Young Roberts Sr.

Surviving are his daughter, Michelle Roberts Miller (Lance) of Guyton, GA; daughter, Tammy Roberts Amadee of Savannah, GA; brother, Edward Young Roberts, Jr of Zwolle, LA; sister, Wynona Roberts Burgstiner of Zwolle, LA; grandchildren, Spencer Moore of Garden City, GA; Hunter Roberts of Prairieville, LA;  great-grandchildren, Braylynn Moore of Guyton, GA; Matthew Moore of Savannah, GA; Story Moore of Garden City, GA; nephews, Tony Burgstiner of Zwolle, LA; Bill Burgstiner (Sebi) of Midway, GA; Eddie Roberts (Lori) of Guyton, GA; niece, Lynn Roberts Hart of Guyton, GA.  Several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many nieces, nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 4:00pm on Monday, November 22, 2021, at Abundant Life Church, 1541 SR-21S, Springfield, GA 31329.
