Rincon, GA - Mr. Michael “Mike” Edward McFarlane, 61, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019, after a short illness. Michael was born on November 13, 1957 in Savannah to the late Marilyn Morris Hadwin and Edward R. McFarlane, Jr. He graduated from Groves High School and retired from National Gypsum Company after 40+ years (where he was affectionately known as “Jimmy Mac”). Michael was an avid fisherman, huge NASCAR fan and master chef of southern home cooking.
Michael was also preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Daisy and Rufus Morris, Uncle Edwin Morris and cousin Greg Morris. Survivors include his daughters Lori (Alvin) Holton of Claxton, Casey (Andrew) Crawford of Pooler, Christina McFarlane of Rincon, stepson Brian (Lori Ann) McEwen of Rincon, and 10 grandchildren: Austin, Zach, Kayleigh and Christopher Holton; Aubrey and Aiden Allen; Chloe and Miyah Pickard; and Gabriella and Caleb McEwen. He is also survived by his siblings, Terry (Ken) Grainger, Walter (Angela) Hadwin, Jr, Traci (Randy) Elmgren and Tammy (Bobby) Davids, many nieces and nephews and former wife Lisa McEwen McFarlane.
The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15th, at Riggs Funeral Home in Guyton, with a memorial service to follow at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association.
