Mr. Gerald A "Jerry" Porter

-Marlow- Mr. Gerald A. Jerry Porter, 57, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at his residence in Marlow, Georgia. Jerry was an avid NASCAR fan. He loved working with his hands, hotrods, motorcycles and boating with his family and friends. Most of all Jerry loved family and the Lord. Jerry was a fine christian man and always found the good in everyone. He was retired from International Paper having worked there for 29 years and was a member of the Pipefitters Union Local 188. He was a 1974 graduate of Effingham County High School and was a member of New Providence Baptist Church. Jerry leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 36 years, Cindy Sessions Porter; his children, Patrick Porter (Vanessa), Joshua Porter (Abigail) and Jessica Porter Roberson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kole and Mason Roberson, Remy and Beck Porter; his mother, Birdie Holloway; his father and stepmother, Patrick and Frances Porter; brothers, Craig Porter (Wanda) and Glen Porter; stepbrother, Maurice Shirley (Donna); stepsister, Cindy Dean (Robin) and 5 nieces and 7 nephews also Jerry was loved and will be missed by a host of family and friends. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 14th at Riggs Funeral Home in Guyton, GA. A memorial celebration of life for Jerry will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15th at New Providence Baptist Church in Guyton, GA Honorary Pallbearers are Jack Neidlinger, Benny Wilkinson, Jeffrey Wasson, Emmett Belogorska, Randy Reiser and Charles Marsh.
