-Guyton- Mr. Jarvis Cordell Chambers, 91, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at his residence. Mr. Chambers was a native of Clyde, North Carolina and lived in Guyton, Georgia for a number of years. He retired from The Mountaineer Newspaper as a printer and worked for the Effingham County School System for several years. He was a Veteran of WWII (Battle of Iwo Jima) serving in the United States Marine Corp. He was a Methodist, a graduate of NC State College, a life member of VFW Post #5205 and the American Legion Post #47. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Deloach Chambers; step-sons, Calvin Corley of Canton, North Carolina, Charles Corley of Waynesville, North Carolina and Frank Corley of Waynesville, North Carolina; 5 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 step-great grandchildren and 3 step- great great grandchildren.
