-Guyton- Mrs. Betty Jean Phillips Davis, 82, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Davis was born in Savannah but lived in Effingham County for most of her life. She worked for Tetley Tea Company, was a homemaker, a member of New Providence Baptist Church, a member of the WMU and served as a bible school worker for many years. Survivors include: her husband of 61 years, Wilfred L. Davis Sr.; son and daughter-in-law, Wilfred L. Davis, Jr. "Loy" and Nell Davis; daughter and son-in-law, Sheryll and Phil Smalley; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Donna Davis; seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Douglas, Carolyn Edwards (Tootsie) and brother, Billy Phillips (Marya) and a number of nieces, nephews and grand and great grand nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Riggs Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow in the Guyton Cemetery.
