-Springfield- Mrs. Thelma J. Evans Wallace, 64, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 at home under Hospice Care. Mrs. Thelma was born in Chatham County but lived almost all of her life in Efffingham County. She was a homemaker that loved her family and friends first and foremost. She was a wonderful sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend to many people. She was well known for her love of cooking for everyone and her love of others. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wallace J. and Estell Evans; brother, Jimmy Evans; sister, Ann Cribbs; husband of 41 years, Herman A. Wallace and son, Richard D. Wallace. Survivors include: three sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Buddy Tootle of Savannah, Georgia, Fran Kennedy, Mary and Tommy Albaugh of Buckhannon, West Virginia, Toni Clifton and Avery Hinson of Oak Island, North Carolina,; two sons, James A. Wallace and Jeremy (Amanda) Wallace of Clyo; daughter, Peggy (Danny) Dester of Clyo; two grandchildren, Payton and Mayson Thompson of Clyo, several nieces, nephews, and many close friends. A special thanks to Gentiva Hospice nurses and caregivers, Mrs. Barbara, Mrs. Liz and Mrs. Carole. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 6 - 8 at Riggs Funeral Home.
