Patricia "Molly" Buttimer

Patricia "Molly" Buttimer, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2024, in Rincon, Georgia. Molly was born on October 1, 1934, in Utica, New York at the St. Elizabeth’s Hospital where she would later earn her RN at the St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing. She studied at the Catholic University of America from 1956 to 1957. She met the love of her life, Tommy, while attending the Catholic University. They were married on September 6, 1957, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in New York and made their home in Savannah. She was employed  by Chatham County Health Department as a field nurse and later helped establish the WIC program. After 10 years, she transferred back to the health department as a lead nurse and retired in 1995 as nurse principal.
 
She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where she served as Eucharistic Minister and recently attended St. Boniface Catholic Church.  Patricia's warm and gentle spirit touched the lives of many and her memory will be cherished forever by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

 

Molly is survived by her loving children: Anne Harvey (Rob) of Rincon, Thomas Buttimer Jr. of Richmond Hill, Virginia Buttimer of Rincon, and Mary Garrett(John) of Marietta; grandchildren: Moira Butler, Mary Harvey, Michael and Ray Buttimer, Jacquelyn and Kaitlyn Dickey, Michelle Garrett, Johnny, Patrick, Megan, and Riley Garrett; great grandchildren: Thomas and Nathan Buttimer, Gabbie Garrett, Aubreigh and Zane Cook, Jackson, Bradley, and Caroline Butler. Patricia also leaves behind her sister, Sr. Mary Jogues, brother, Paul Goldsmith and sister-in-law, Betty Goldsmith of New York, brother-in-law, Anthony Buttimer of Marietta, and sister-in-law, Sr. Helen Marie Buttimer of Tybee Island. 
 
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas M. Buttimer, Sr.; parents, Henry and Ruth Goldsmith; daughter-in-law, Sherry Buttimer; and 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

 
Molly loved good jokes, traveling, helping anyone in need, and everything Irish.
 
Services to honor and celebrate Molly's life will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Springfield, Georgia. A visitation will take place on March 6th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held in the Catholic Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia.
 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Carmelite Monastery, 11 West Back Road, Savannah, Georgia 31419.
