Robert Eugene Achtziger, Sr.

Robert Eugene Achtziger, Sr.,84, passed away at his residence on Thursday, October 27, 2022, surrounded by family.

Robert was born on April 23, 1938, to the late Alex and Lea Achtziger. He grew up in Oregon but has been in Effingham County for the majority of his life. Robert was a hard and dedicated worker. He was veteran of the Airforce, serving two listings. Following his military career, he worked for the Georgia Ports Authority. In his free time he loved fishing, singing karaoke, and spending time with his dogs, Harley and Remington. Robert was a wonderful father who was always there for his kids.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years, Frances Achtziger; son, Wayne Achtziger; and parents Alex and Lea Achtziger.

He is survived by his sons; Robert (Glenda) Achtziger, Jr., Randy (Stacie) Achtziger, and Carey (Karen) Messex, Jr.; daughter, Tammy (Jeff) Daigle; daughter-in-law, Dale Achtziger; Brother, Harold (Linda) Achtziger; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Elam Egypt Baptist Church.
