Robin Diane Massey,55, passed away at her home on Monday evening, June 19, 2017, after an extended illness.
Robin was born in Savannah, Georgia on May 14, 1962 to her parents, Charles Edward Massey, III and Gloria Delaine Massey. She was a graduate of the Class of 1980 at Effingham County High School. She received her degree as a Registered Nurse at Armstrong State College. Robin was a knowledgeable, determined and loving nurse to many patients and families in both the Effingham Health System and as a nurse and administrator to several Hospice Organizations. Robin was a proud member of the Effingham Health System Authority Board for many years.
The true joy of her life was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as well as her family and friends. You could not go anywhere with Robin that you didn't get stopped several times to visit with people she knew. She was relentless as a doting aunt to her babies, Ariana Jalynn Hope Massey, Danny James Massey (hands down her favorite), Jesse Stewart Massey and Elijah Edward Massey.
Robin was recently approved as a candidate for a kidney transplant at Piedmont Transplant Center in Atlanta. She was a fierce advocate for organ donations. (www.organdonor.gov)
She was a long time member of New Providence Baptist Church in Guyton where she was a Sunday School teacher, children's choir director and adult choir member.
She was preceded in death by her baby brother, C. Edward Massey, IV; her paternal grandparents, Charlie E. Massey, Jr. and Dorothy Wiley Massey of Sylvania and her maternal grandparents, Stewart Angus Priester and Bertha Priester of Savannah.
She is survived by her parents, Charles Edward Massey, III and Gloria Delaine Massey of Guyton; sister, Teri (Elisa) Massey of Guyton; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at Riggs Funeral Home on Friday, June 23, 2017, from 5 - 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at New Providence Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Guyton Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital,501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
