Sarah Gertrude Davis Coursey, 94, of Guyton, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at St Joseph’s Hospital, Savannah, GA. She was born April 3, 1928, in Clyo, Georgia, the daughter of Laten Mingledorff Davis and Reefer Rae Wheeler.
She was a longtime member of Clyo United Methodist Church. She was a life member of Lachlan McIntosh Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, member of the Effingham County Hussars Chapter of The United Daughters of the Confederacy and a life member of the Georgia Salzburger Society.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Ann Coursey of Savannah; son, Roger Warren Coursey (Debbie) of Guyton; four grandchildren, Roger David Coursey (Victoria) of Jacksonville, FL, Christopher Glen Coursey (Tasha) of Greenville, SC, Kimberly Coursey Arnsdorff (Jake) of Springfield, and Benjamin Joseph Coursey (Melissa) of Savannah; eight great grandchildren, Bryar Graham Coursey, Kelsey Renee Coursey, Sadie Grace Arnsdorff, Kayne Radley Arnsdroff, Gatlyn Reed Arnsdorff, Hattie Jo Arnsdorff, Noah Benjamin Coursey, and Chloe Marie Coursey; and one step great grandchild, Hunter Michael Perry.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Marvin Graham Coursey; her father, Laten Mingledorff Davis and mother, Reefer Rae Wheeler Davis Morgan; three brothers, Rufus Edwin Davis, Laten Rae Davis, Glenn Alexander Davis; sister, Barbara Ann Davis Wallace; and great grandson, Dylan Joseph Coursey.
Visitation will be on held from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Friday, July 8, 2022, at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home in Springfield, GA with Reverend Derward Poole officiating.
Interment will be at Wheeler Cemetery, Effingham County, Georgia.
