Shanon McCready

-Springfield- Shanon McCready aka “monk-monk”, age 33, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, May 16, 2021.

Shanon was born on March 14, 1988 in Portsmouth, Virginia and lived in Effingham County for much of his life after moving here at the age of Sixteen. He was a Baptist and a member of Abundant Life Church and proudly worked as a scaffold builder.

He is preceded in death by his biological father, Colin Reese Nipper; and grandmother, Margaret McCready.

Survivors include: his mother, Sami McCready; father, Cecil McCready; sons, Shane and Silas McCready; stepdaughter, Courtney Flowers; former partner, Rachael Flowers; brothers, Timothy, Drew, and Sam McCready; sisters, Courtney Nipper, and Marlaina McCready; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home on Monday, May 24, 2021, from 5 – 6pm with a celebration of life to follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 6pm.

A celebration of life will also be held at his mother’s home, 3989 Butler Drive, Suffolk, Virginia 23437 at 2pm on Sunday, June 13, 2021.
