Shirley Coulam

October 21, 1945 — March 20, 2024

Shirley Ann Coulam, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully under the care of Hospice March 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on  October 21, 1945 in Los Angeles, she  lived most of her life in California before relocating to Springfield, GA, in 2022.

Shirley was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, actively involved in church activities and service.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John, and their four children; daughters Tammy (Casey) of Auburn, CA,  Toni (Greg) of Rincon, GA, and sons Warren (Debbie) of  Orangevale,  CA, and Tom (Nichole) of Haslet, TX. Shirley was also blessed with 15 grandchildren; Brooke, Brady, Dallin, Brendan, Kelsie, Ryan, Jordan, Morgan, Matthew, Kylie, Miranda, Carlin, Kaitlynn, Justice and  Dylann, whom she adored dearly,  and 13 great grandchildren, as well as a sister, Bev (Jack) of Bremerton, WA, and many nieces and nephews.

Growing up, Shirley found joy in spending time at the beach at Balboa Island with her family. She loved swimming, bowling and playing tennis.  She attended BYU and met her future husband while in Utah. As a homemaker, Shirley volunteered in her children's schools and enthusiastically supported them in their sporting endeavors.

In her later years, Saturday mornings were spent scouring yard sales and frequenting the farmers market. She had a keen eye for hidden treasures and took pleasure in the art of thrifting. Her love for shopping and dining out were some of her favorite pastimes.

Becoming a grandmother brought Shirley happiness, and she cherished moments spent with her grandchildren. “Punkin” was a favorite name she called them all. Her wit and sass were legendary, leaving a mark on all who knew her. Family and friends alike have fond memories of her comical personality and have many stories they share.

The family will announce plans for a Celebration of Life Ceremony at a later date.
