-Springfield-Mrs. Thelma Morgan, 75, passed away Friday, November 6, 2020, at Effingham Care Center.
Mrs. Thelma was born in Savannah, Georgia, on September 9, 1945, to Willie and Evelyn Hammond. She was an avid sports lover who enjoyed playing softball, up into her forties. She and her late brother, Willie Jr., were like two peas in a pod. They loved spending time together and watching the Braves and Georgia Bulldogs. Her family meant the world to her, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by: her husband, Charles Morgan; parents, Willie and Evelyn Hammond; brother, Willie Hammond Jr.; and sister, Mary Jane Budrawich.
Survivors include: her children, Shelia Scott (Don) of Rincon, Sherri Muller (Bob) of Tennessee, William “Billy” Morgan (Melissa) of Springfield, and Wendy Blase (Lewis) of Germany; brother, Luther Hammond (Peggy) of Savannah; sisters, Beverly Bolen (Vern) of Springfield, and Elizabeth Bridges (Tony) of Rincon; and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Riggs Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, from 10am-12pm with funeral services in to follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 12pm. Burial will be held in Ryal Cemetery.
