Springfield

Thomas Clifton Spence, 66, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Effingham County Hospital. Tommy was born in Raleigh, North Carolina and lived in Effingham County for a number of years.

To know Tommy was to love Tommy. It didn’t matter if you were born into the family or just became a family member, you were always his family. It didn't matter who you were or how you got to be a part of the family, in Tommy’s eye. His greatest joy came through spending time with his children and grandchildren. Everyone had their own person and greeting, and you knew what it was when you heard it: Michelle, Miss I’m going to do it anyway so move; Nikki, Miss I’ll do it my way; Daniel, Mr. Deputy Dog; and John, Mr. on the road never stop I’ll call you. He always enjoyed calling his children on a regular basis not to check up on them but just because he wanted to hear their voice and make sure they were good to go. Tommy will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas Spence and Lorraine Carter; and brother, Michael Spence.

Tommy leaves behind his daughters, Robin “Michelle” Spence of Springfield, and Nicole Woods of Houston, TX; sons, Daniel Ryan Seely of Habersham, GA and John Seely (Stacey) of Commerce, GA; grandchildren, Alex Coleman, Hunter Coleman (Nicala), Noah Murdock, Braydon Spence, Gavin Sapp, Caleb Seely (Kacey), Haylie Seely, Kaylie Seely, Kenneth Seely, Alexis Seely, Cavin Seely, Olivia Seely, Jaylin Smith, David Stephens (Joyce), and Arminda Seely; great grandchildren, Christian Seely, Jordan Seely, Mayzelle Bottemley, Joseph Bottemley, Mark Bottemley, Ellinna Rose Coleman, Destiny Stephens, and Isabella Stephens; and brother, Donald Thomas (Beverlie) of Springfield. He also leaves behind his beloved four-legged companion, Daisy; and many other loving family members and friends.
