Todd Dennis Wood,50, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024, at Memorial Hospital, under the care of Georgia Hospice, with his brother, Lincoln, by his side.
Todd was born on July 29, 1973, in Maryville, Missouri and lived in Ravenwood, MO before moving to College Springs and later, Alden, IA. Later, he moved to Arizona, and again to Georgia where he graduated Effingham County High School in 1992. Todd attended college at Ogeechee Tech and started his career in Sports Writing and Photography at the Effingham Herald. He eventually became sports editor, and often served long stints as the primary editor for the paper. During his career, he also got to cover the Super Bowl as an on-field photographer and was published in ESPN Magazine. He continued his career working with Effingham Magazine, Pooler Magazine, and helped launch Beaufort Lifestyle Magazine.
Todd was a member of the Alden United Methodist Church and in his free time, he enjoyed coaching soccer at the Effingham YMCA. In his later years, Todd specialized in travel photography and unique stories, with his spiritual & esthetic-focused lifestyle publication, Rev & Roam.
Surviving are his mother, Janice Wood of Springfield; brother, Lincoln Wood, of Springfield, GA, and brother and sister-in-law, Brett and Desiree Wood of Savannah; nephew, Judge Wood of Savannah; and grandmother, Marion Gibson of Story City, IA.
Todd was preceded in death by his brother, Robert ”Robby” Wood; father, Dennis Wood; grandfather, Bob Gibson; and grandparents, Lloyd and Lucille Wood.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 1:30PM until 2:30PM on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 2:30PM..
Interment will take place on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 12:00PM in Iowa at the Dow City Cemetery.
