Tommy C. Thompson

Mr. Tommy C. Thompson,75, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Tommy was born in Griffin, Georgia on July 20, 1947, to Carvin and Matilda Thompson and lived in Effingham County for a number of years. He retired from Gulfstream with 35 years of service, recently retired for the ASA Umpire Association after 50 years and was VP of RBM Sports Officials for many years. He loved Mickey Mouse and all things Disney. He also loved college football and his beloved LSU tigers. In his free time, Tommy also enjoyed fishing and watching the many birds that came to his feeders. His favorite pastime was being with his grandbabies, Taylor and Allison, who were born after his retirement. He kept the grandbabies often and they had his heart.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carvin and Matilda Thompson; sisters, Monnell McGrath, Dorothy Helen Ondriezek, and Peggy Marie; brother, Billy Gerald Thompson; and beloved friend, Richard Meeks

Survivors include his loving wife of 15 years, Sharon Woods Thompson; sons, Chris Thompson of Savannah, Richard Thompson (Stephanie) of Savannah, and Tommy Sears (Jenny) of Alabama; daughter, Tina Damiano of Savannah; brother, Warren Thomas (Beverly) of Savannah; and many special grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 10am – 11am with funeral services to follow at 11am in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be held in the Guyton Cemetery.
