Vera Souders Hughey

Vera Souders Hughey, 57, passed away at her residence on Saturday, July 29, 2023, in Guyton, Georgia.

Mrs. Vera was born in California on March 1, 1966 and lived in Effingham County for 26 years. For many years, Vera worked for St. Joseph’s Hospital as a PCT and in her free time enjoyed baking and decorating cakes. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family and helping people out in any way she could. Vera will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include: her loving husband, John Hughey; daughters, Katie Davis (Stanley) of Springfield, Jennifer Reid (Rock) of Guyton, and Lorrie Souders (Shane Sellers) of Bloomingdale; stepdaughter, Christina Hughey; brother, Thomas Smith of California; grandchildren, Holly Davis, Hayden Reid, Brian Davis, Braelyn Reid, Brayden Reid, Dawson Davis, Traevin Hughey, Trever Atchley, and Natalia Infante; mother-in-law, Marie Raulerson of Newington; sisters-in-law, Alisha Knight of Newington, and Sherry Pittman of Hermon, New York; and brother-in-law, Michael Pittman (Granada) of Alabama.

A celebration of life will be held in Mrs. Vera's memory at 2PM on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the Effingham County Recreation Department in Springfield, Georgia.
