Vivian S Hodges

December 13, 1919 — September 22, 2016

-Springfield-Vivian S. Hodges, 96, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016, at Effingham County Extended Care.

Mrs. Hodges was a 10th generation Salzburger and the youngest daughter of Herschel E. and Minnie(Gnann) Seckinger. She was a retired Effingham County Board of Education lunchroom worker and the oldest member of Turkey Branch Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, L.G. "Preacher" Hodges; son, Harry J. Hodges; granddaughter, Angela Hodges; her parents and four of her siblings.

She is survived by her children, David Lavern (Mary) Hodges of Pooler, Rev. Doctor Ted (Dianne) Hodges of Fort Lawn, South Carolina, Carey (Julie) Hodges of Springfield, Glynda (Eddie) Grizzard of Springfield and Irene Houston of Atlanta; brother, John Martin Seckinger of Garden City; 21 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Riggs Funeral Home on Sunday, September 24, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment: Crosby-Hodges Cemetery.

In lieu of flower, the family request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1930 Springfield-Egypt Road, Springfield, GA 31329 or to the Activities Department at Effingham Care Center. 459 Highway 119 South, Springfield, GA 31329.
