William "Billy" Lundergan

February 13, 1972 — December 28, 2024

Guyton

William "Billy" Edward Lundergan II, 52, of Guyton, Georgia, passed away on December 28, 2024, in Savannah, Georgia. His wife, Patricia Ons Lundergan, and longtime friend, Bart Hogan, were with him at the time. Billy was born on February 13, 1972, in Torrance, California, to the late William Edward Lundergan and Sharon Polk Walsh. He was raised in Costa Mesa, California, until he moved to Effingham County, Georgia, in 2018.

Billy met the love of his life, Patricia Ons Lundergan, through mutual friends, and they began dating in 2008. They were married in Costa Mesa, California, at Presbyterian Church of the Covenant on December 17, 2009, and welcomed their daughter, Hannah Lundergan, on February 20, 2011. Billy radiated love, pride, and joy whenever he spoke of them, ensuring everyone knew just how special Patricia and Hannah were to him.

In 1993, Billy joined the Army with plans to become a military chaplain, as he was a man of deep faith. In preparation for this role, he attended California Baptist University. He served in the Army until 2001 and then continued his service in the Army National Guard until 2005, when he was honorably discharged.

Billy took pride in his work with various sanitation companies in Effingham County, Georgia, and as a school bus driver for the Effingham County School District. Throughout his life, he shared his interests and hobbies with others, expressing his love for grilling, cooking, fishing, firearms, music, and Adam Sandler movies.

Billy’s love for others was selfless. He treated everyone with compassion, understanding, kindness, support, trust, acceptance, respect, and patience. His nonjudgmental and inclusive nature fostered lifelong relationships with loved ones around the globe.

Billy was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Michael Lundergan.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia, and their beloved daughter, Hannah, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his son William, his brother, Joseph, and sister-in-law, Susana, along with their children, Sawyer and Adeline, who brought him immense joy and pride. Billy shared a close and meaningful bond with his sister Megan Walsh and his stepfather, James Walsh. Although his connection with his sister, Jennifer Norvelle, and her four children was more distant, their place in his life is honored.

Billy also embraced his role as godfather to Diego and Daniel Figueroa with love and care, a responsibility he cherished deeply.

Though his absence leaves a profound void, Billy’s legacy of love and family will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

A memorial service to honor Billy’s life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Carlson and Riggs Funeral Home, 1979 GA-119 S., Guyton, Georgia 31312.
