William Gregory "Greg" Blackard,70, of Clyo, Ga passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, with his loving children by his side.
Greg was born on December 2, 1952, to Bill and Jean Blackard in Augusta, Ga and grew up in Appling, Ga on The Bartles Farm on Tom Bartles Road. His precious memories of John Davis and the Bartles boy cousins were always one of his favorites to tell. In his early adult years, Greg moved to Savannah, Ga, which led to his 40-year career in aviation. There were many loves of Greg’s life but first and foremost was his love for God. He spent his adult life dedicating his words, actions and testimony to pleasing God at Gethsemane Baptist Church. Along the way he found joy in playing softball, motorcycles, antique cars and dad jokes. He was a prankster always looking for any opportunity to laugh. In his most recent years, he enjoyed restoring old cars alongside his best friend, Marcus Morales, who he called family.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Alanna and Justin Hilburn and their children, Alexia, Kayli, Chase, Westin and Chandler; son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Melissa Blackard and their children, Jordyn, Matthew, Charleigh, Lelyn and Tylee; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanie and Choya Matheson and their son, Lucas; and siblings, Susan Brooker of Pooler, Ga, David Blackard of Matthews, NC and Donna Blackard of Memphis, TN.
Visitation will be held at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home on Sunday, May 21, 2023, from 2pm-3pm with a celebration of life to follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 3pm. Burial will be private.
