Billie passed peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones at the golden age of 89. She was born in rural Oak Park Georgia as the only child of Ernest William Aaron and Nettie Lee Morris Aaron.
Billie moved to Savannah GA when she was a young girl. Her parents owned and operated Aaron’s General Mercantile Store, in the heart of downtown Savannah. She enjoyed being a city girl and attended many USO dances. She was a fantastic dancer, fashionably stylish always, a great lover of music and the big bands of the era.
Billie graduated in 1952 from Commercial High School, in Savannah Georgia. She worked at Union Bag where she met and later married Jack Cornette on July 13, 1954. In 1973, she went to work for the Chatham County Board of Education. She retired in 1998, and then moved to Effingham County in 2001.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; youngest son, Cary; and many friends and relatives. She will be dearly missed by her surviving children: daughter, Resi, son, Joel (Katherine), son, Jeremy (Catherine), daughter, Tammy; 11 grandchildren and their spouses; 15 great-grandchildren; and the many who have been impacted by her love.
